Munley Law is pleased to announce that attorneys Marion Munley and Daniel W. Munley recently received the First Annual Robert W. Munley Award from the American Association of Justice (AAJ). Formerly the “Chairman’s Award,” the award was renamed this year in honor of the late Robert W. Munley (1930-2019).
The award is presented annually by the Chair of AAJ’s Trucking Litigation Group to an attorney who has done extraordinary work to further the group’s objectives: educating other lawyers on trucking law matters and contributing to the improvement of highway safety through legal work and advocacy.
MARION MUNLEY is a champion of victims’ rights and the civil justice system. She is known for her compassionate approach to representing the catastrophically injured and her tireless devotion to her clients and their families. Triple Board Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial, Civil Practice, and Truck Law, Marion has earned an AV-Preeminent designation from Martindale-Hubbell, the industry’s highest ethical and client satisfaction rating.
Marion is an active member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and currently serves on the AAJ Board of Governors and on its Executive Committee. She was the first woman to become Chair of the AAJ Trucking Litigation Group in 2018 and is a past chair of the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus. Marion is the second woman in Pennsylvania to become Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Among her other professional affiliations are the American Board of Trial Advocates, the International Society of Barristers, and the Summit Council.
She has been named to the Best Lawyers in America list by Best Lawyers since 2012 and was selected as “Lawyer of the Year: Personal Injury – Plaintiffs” for the Allentown Metro Area this past year. Marion has also been selected to the list of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for the last 15 years and has been consistently recognized as one of the “top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania” in Super Lawyers Magazine. A graduate of Temple University School of Law (J.D., 1986), Marion received her undergraduate degree from Scranton University in 1983.
DANIEL W. MUNLEY is a seasoned truck accident lawyer and a champion of plaintiffs’ rights. A board-certified civil trial advocate, Daniel has earned a national reputation for his trial victories. He has more than twenty years of experience representing individuals in complex personal injury matters, with a special focus on traumatic brain injuries and tractor-trailer accident litigation. Daniel served as Chairperson of the AAJ’s Trucking Litigation Group from 2011-2012, and currently serves on the executive board for that group. He has been certified by the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America, and board-certified in Truck Accident Law and Civil Trial Practice by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. A nationally recognized leader in trucking law, Munley is frequently invited to speak on trucking law and other legal matters at events all over the country. He has won numerous multimillion-dollar settlements and verdicts, including a groundbreaking $26 million settlement in a truck accident case.
Daniel has been named among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Pennsylvania, the Trucking Trial Lawyers Top Ten, and has been named in the Best Lawyers in America and listed in “Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.” He was selected “Lawyer of the Year: Product Liability– Plaintiffs” for the Allentown Metro Area in 2020 by Best Lawyers. He has earned an AV-Preeminent rating and a Platinum-Level Client Champion designation from Martindale-Hubbell. A 1990 graduate of the University of Scranton, Daniel earned his law degree from University of Tulsa College of Law in 1994.
