Published last month, the Department of Labor’s Final Rule on overtime payments stands to impact millions of businesses and their employees. Companies active in the nation’s burgeoning cannabis industry will be seriously, and uniquely, affected by these changes as well. To address the upcoming regulatory updates, on Friday, June 10th, the first installment of Offit Kurman’s new bi-monthly webinar series “The Cannabusiness Key” will explore these important issues in a presentation entitled “The New Overtime Rules and the Impact on Your Cannabusiness.”
Hosted by Offit Kurman employment and medical cannabis attorney and thought leader Darren Weiss, the hour-long webinar will cover the essential components of the Final Rule and offer some key takeaways and action items for cannabusinesses before the rule takes effect this December. The presentation will touch on the new overtime exemption threshold, Fair Labor Standards Act eligibility requirements, and more—with an emphasis on how these issues affect cultivators, processors, dispensaries, and other businesses and entrepreneurs involved in the nation’s rapidly evolving and expanding cannabis space.
The presentation is the first webinar in The Cannabusiness Key series and is produced by Offit Kurman’s Medical Cannabis Practice group, which launched earlier this year. Services provided by this new group incorporate the firm’s capabilities in a broad range of legal subject matters, including health care compliance, regulatory guidance, labor and employment compliance, tax issues, intellectual property protection, real estate and land use, and insurance.
The Cannabusiness Key: New Overtime Rules and the Impact on Your Cannabusiness, will take place Friday, June 10th, from 12–1pm. To register for this webinar, click here or visit cannabusinesskey.com. More information about Offit Kurman’s medical cannabis practice group can be found here.
