SoulJoel’s Comedy Club and Lounge opened for business on Friday nights on November 1st, 2019, featuring the best comedians from around the country. By the last week of February 2020, SoulJoel’s had quickly grown to operate five days a week including Open Mic Mondays and Charity Thursdays. Two weeks later, like everyone else, SoulJoel’s was forced to shut down. With no money coming in from live shows, the club chose to adapt and pivot.
Instead of laying off employees, SoulJoel’s launched SoulJoel TV, offering online content via social media and YouTube. “SoulJoel TV had been scheduled to launch in the 3rd Quarter of 2020. The quarantine motivated us to pivot and launch earlier,” says Joel Richardson, founder of Soul Joel Productions. “The demand from our fans for online content while being stuck at home was overwhelming. We’re happy to be providing a happy escape from the harsh reality of social distancing.”
Over the past month, SoulJoel TV expanded it’s free podcasting, offering former weekly podcast Drinks Jokes and Storytelling five nights a week at 8pm. In addition, three other weekly podcasts have been added:
Entrepreneurial AF: Thriving and Surviving, Tips for Entrepreneurs hosted by Joel Richardson and Deanna Kozak, Joel’s sister.

Friday May 1st, 2020 will launch SoulJoel’s TV Patreon, which will offer special tiered pricing membership. This support will keep SoulJoel’s in business, while retaining all employees and food on the table for all of the comedians on the team. Members of the $25 or higher tier will be able to enjoy 1 online performance each month.
