Nominated by Dr. John R. Fish, the charity receives $1,000 from ABB Optical Group
ABB Optical Group, a leading national provider of optical products, services and business solutions for the eye care industry, is pleased to announce that The Camphill School in Glenmoore, Pennsylvania has received a $1,000 grant through the company’s Sixth Annual ABB Cares program, which recognizes and celebrates outstanding non-profit organizations throughout the country.
Nominated by local optometrist Dr. John R. Fish of Eagle Eye Associates in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, The Camphill School creates wholeness for children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that they may be better understood, reach their potential and meaningfully participate in life.
The Camphill School is a licensed and approved private school that offers individualized education and therapy in an extended family setting. Students learn academics in engaging ways, such as music, art and gardening. The unique approach of experiential learning allows all students to grow and thrive at their own pace. The ABB Cares grant will support the school’s financial tuition assistance program, which helps families who may not be able to afford the full tuition for their child’s specialized education due to lack of personal or government resources.
“What started with our support of a simple ad in their annual gala program has developed into a deep, lasting relationship with an incredible school and community,” said Dr. Fish, who has been supporting The Camphill School for more than 10 years and serves on the board of directors. ”I have seen firsthand the amazing work that this organization does and with the help of this grant, The Camphill School will be able to continue making a significant difference in the lives of so many children.”
ABB Cares recognizes charities that have been nominated by eye care professionals across the country for exceptional programming and community impact. Other 2019 grant recipients are: BIO Girls in Fargo, North Dakota; Lakeshore Food 4 Kids in Ludington, Michigan; Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge in Minneapolis; It’s a Sensory World in Farmers Branch, Texas; Sandy Feet Initiative in Mission Viejo, California; and Vision is Priceless in Jacksonville, Florida.
