Trout Daniel & Associates Announce Sale of Stehli Silk Mill, Lancaster, PA

7/7/19

Trout Daniel & Associates (TD&A) is pleased to announce the sale of the Stehli Silk Mill located at 701 Martha Avenue in Lancaster, PA.

This 10.79 acre property contains two buildings totaling approximately 175,000 square feet. The mill was constructed in 1897. The main building is approximately 900 feet long and at time of construction was the longest silk mill in the world. In its 1920’s heyday the mill employed over 2,000 people.

Gary Olschansky, Investment Sales Specialist at TD&A represented the purchaser - Rhode Island based Union Box Company.

The purchaser will convert the existing structures into multi-family and commercial use. The redevelopment process is expected to take several years to complete. According to Union Box Company President Larry Silverstein, “We are thrilled to help stabilize and redevelop what we consider to be a gem property. Its location in Lancaster & Manheim Township was a huge attraction to us due to the lack of similar projects, strong demand for rental housing and the willingness of the City and Township to work with us to turn this property back into a community focal point.”

Union Box Company is a developer of historic mill properties with other active projects in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Trout Daniel & Associates (TD&A) is commercial real estate firm located in Timonium, MD. Its 25 employees provide boutique-level services to owners, managers, developers and investors of commercial real estate throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
