Tight-knit siblings love living close to each other at the active senior living community.

Siblings Barbara Miller and Robert L. Krause, M.D love living close to each other at Maris Grove

For brother and sister, Barbara Miller and Robert L. Krause, M.D., moving to Maris Grove, an Erickson Living developed and managed community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, has helped them keep their loving sibling relationship strong.

Dr. Krause, a former Chief of Cardiology at Frankford Hospital, and his wife Marilyn, a retired pediatrician, moved to Maris Grove first. He knew about the vibrant lifestyle from his aunt and uncle who lived at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Living developed and managed community in Peabody, Massachusetts. Barbara, a widow after 50 years of marriage to her husband Gary, decided to move from her home in Lower Merion a short time later. They are thrilled to be living close to each other again. Before retirement, they use to work together when Barbara, a Penn State graduate, managed her brother’s cardiology office for 25 years.

“We love having family members come together at Maris Grove,” said Executive Director Maureen Heckler. “It adds to our family atmosphere on campus and truly makes Maris Grove a great place to live.”

Barbara and her brother often meet up for activities and events at the community as well as for dinner or Sunday brunch at one of the six-campus restaurants.

"Maris Grove provides so many cultural activities from live theater performances, to movies, to lectures, to all religious services,” said Barbara. They both enjoy being members of the ping pong club. Barbara, an avid gardener, also has a plot at the community garden and looks forward to planting flowers and vegetables in the spring.

Maris Grove has a variety of beautiful floor plans. “The apartment choices are many, and the views from most homes are of gardens and trees, sunsets, and patios. I am thrilled with my two bedroom, two bath apartment home with 9 ft. ceilings and a screened in patio, where I was able to bring my piano, and a swing from my back yard at home,” said Barbara.

Both siblings agree that Maris Grove is an outstanding place to live with employees who really care about the residents.

“There is nothing they won’t do for their residents. From the maintenance people to the young servers in the restaurants, from the decorating department who helped us settle in and make decisions, to the administrative staff, from the people who work at the gate to the people who man the clubhouses, all are caring folks who keep us content. We couldn’t be happier,” said Barbara.
