ASTM International Appoints CIO Richard Lindberg, Announces Organizational Changes

ASTM International announced today the hiring of Richard Lindberg to serve as the organization's new chief information officer and vice president. In addition, ASTM announced organizational changes aimed at optimizing operations and positioning the organization for the future.

"We are excited to bring Rick on board with his extensive experience executing global technology initiatives," said Katharine Morgan, ASTM International president. "He will make a great addition to the ASTM International team."

Lindberg spent the last 25 years as a senior technology executive. Most recently, he served as head of enterprise application services for Guardian Life Insurance Company. He previously served as deputy chief information officer for group insurance at Guardian, the chief information officer for Stern Solutions, and the chief information officer and global technology leader in the human capital business at Mercer.

Early in his career, Lindberg worked as both a design engineer and project engineer for two different engineering firms where he used ASTM International standards in his every day work.

Lindberg is a licensed professional engineer (PE), certified network engineer (CNE), holds a Lean Six Sigma black belt, and is a certified agilist through the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Product Owner and Product Manager course. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from West Virginia University.

Lindberg will oversee ASTM International's IT operations and content curation division.

ASTM International also announced these organizational changes, effective Oct. 22:

  • John Pace will serve in a new role as senior vice president;
  • Vice President Jim Thomas will lead the sales and marketing division;
  • Vice President Phil Lively will lead a newly formed product development division that integrates product development for customers and members along with business analyst, website and analytics support,
  • Vice President Brian Meincke will lead a newly-merged finance and business development division,
  • Laboratory Services and Certification will become its own division under Vice President Tim Brooke, and
  • Building and Grounds Operations at ASTM International's global headquarters will report to Vice President Tom O'Brien.
  • Global Policy and Industry Affairs Division has been renamed Global Policy and Communications Division under Vice President Jeff Grove.


In addition, Brian Meincke will replace Phil Lively as ASTM International treasurer effective Nov. 5.
