LAKE CHARLES, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that the PPG Foundation invested a combined $16,000 in four Lake Charles-area organizations to support educational and cultural programs in 2017. The grants were made on behalf of PPG’s local silicas facility.
The grant recipients and funding purposes were:
- Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana: $5,000 to support the Spring Art Walk, a free event that highlights the Southwest Louisiana arts community.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Southwest Louisiana: $2,000 for a school-based mentoring program focused on the Reading Readiness Program, including mentoring in math and science readiness.
- Southwest Louisiana Alliance Foundation: $5,000 for The Leader In Me program, which teaches elementary and middle school students personal leadership and life skills, such as goal setting and teamwork.
- United Way Of Southwest Louisiana: $4,000 to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which is an early literacy project that delivers age-appropriate books directly to the homes of children on a monthly basis, free of charge.
