The Medal is presented annually to individuals who have distinguished themselves for their courage, vision and leadership on behalf of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Noted as an exceptional leader and a great friend of Ukraine, Fitzpatrick was honored for his outstanding leadership and deep commitment to U.S.-Ukraine relations..

Former U.S. Rep. Michael G. Fitzpatrick has practiced law for more than 20 years, representing individuals, family businesses, municipal corporations and large, complex organizations, as well as government authorities and officers. His experience includes service as legal counsel to zoning hearing boards, township governments and school districts and similar entities. Fitzpatrick was elected four times to the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District (109th, 112th, 113th and 114th Congresses) and served eight years on the House Financial Services Committee. Fitzpatrick was also elected three times (1995, 1999, 2003) to the Bucks County Board of Commissioners and served ten years as a commissioner, five of which he was board chair. Active in the community, he currently serves as a board member of the Heritage Conservancy, Washington Crossing Council, Boy Scouts of America, and Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Fairless Hills, PA.
