HAZLETON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Effective November 29, 2016, DBi Services has acquired the assets of Mercier’s Inc., located in South Point, Ohio. Mercier’s Central Branch currently employs over 50 people, under ownership of Craig Mercier.
Founded in 1978, the company was operating through two branches, primarily servicing the Railroad and DOT maintenance markets. In January 2016, DBi Services acquired and successfully integrated the Mercier’s Inc. Harmans, Maryland Branch, which positioned DBi to become one of the largest highway maintenance contractors in Maryland.
Mercier’s services include on-track railroad vegetation management, right-of-way herbicide applications and mowing, stormwater management, bio-retention trenches, incident and emergency management, and roadway/roadside traffic control.
The acquisition of the Ohio location is an excellent strategic fit for DBi’s ambitious growth objectives, and a perfect complement to its existing services. It will provide additional opportunities in the Midwest for DBi’s core businesses, further expanding DBi’s vegetation management and diversified services.
DBi will now operate Mercier’s Inc. under the name DBi Services, maintaining operations in the current South Point location, with plans for future consolidation with their Huntington, West Virginia location. Craig’s initial focus will be on an effective integration to ensure operations are transitioned efficiently into DBi Services. He will then transition into a business development role with DBi focusing on the Midwest.
